Introducing the Sentinel Intelligence API
We mapped 417,000 surveillance cameras across 88 countries. Now we’re making that data available via API.
The problem
Surveillance infrastructure data exists in dozens of scattered sources: OpenStreetMap tags, government open data portals, EFF databases, crowdsourced maps, public records. To build anything useful on top of this data, you need to aggregate, normalize, deduplicate, and maintain it yourself.
Nobody should have to rebuild this pipeline from scratch.
What we’re building
The Sentinel Intelligence API provides structured access to the world’s largest open surveillance infrastructure dataset:
- Location search: find cameras within any radius of any coordinate
- Type filtering: CCTV, ALPR, facial recognition, speed cameras, and 6 more types
- Country coverage: 88 countries across 6 continents
- Density statistics: surveillance intensity scoring for any location
- Exposure reports: comprehensive surveillance analysis for any address
All data comes from public sources: government open data APIs, community mapping platforms, and public records. Updated monthly.
Who this is for
Journalists investigating surveillance expansion. Want to know how many cameras are within 1km of a government building in Budapest? One API call.
Researchers studying surveillance infrastructure patterns. Need ALPR camera density by country? Bulk export available.
Security teams doing site assessments. Client traveling to Paris? Generate a surveillance exposure report before the trip.
Law firms handling privacy litigation. Need evidence of surveillance camera density in a specific neighborhood? Structured data with source attribution.
Human rights organizations documenting surveillance in their regions. Coverage across 88 countries means global reach.
Pricing
We’re launching with four tiers:
- Free: 100 requests/day. Enough to evaluate and prototype.
- Researcher ($99/mo): 10K requests/day with full metadata.
- Professional ($499/mo): 100K requests/day with bulk export.
- Enterprise: Custom pricing with SLA and dedicated support.
Early access
The API is currently in development. We’re looking for beta testers who have specific use cases in mind.
If you’re building something that needs surveillance data, or if you’re a journalist, researcher, or security professional who would use this, reach out. We’re prioritizing early access for people who will actually use it and give us feedback.
